Gunman fires shots at Edinburgh pub during the wake of a gang war suspect, leaving one person injured

Mourners had gathered at the Robin's Nest on Gilmerton Road to mark the passing of Paul MacAulay, 40, killed in a motorbike crash while fleeing police weeks earlier. MacAulay was described as the 'right hand man' of jailed gang boss Mark Richardson. Shots were fired at around 9.15pm on Friday, and the wounded individual was treated at the scene. Police Scotland have described the attack as targeted, though no arrests have been made.

Det Insp Dougal Begg called the shooting 'extremely reckless' and appealed for dashcam footage.

One insider called it a 'serious escalation', adding: 'It is a miracle nobody was killed.'

MacAulay was among 82 people arrested in Operation Portaledge, Police Scotland's gang war crackdown.
