Gunman fires shots at Edinburgh pub during a WAKE for a gang war suspect, leaving one person injured

Friends and family had come to the Robin's Nest on Gilmerton Road to pay their respects to Paul MacAulay, 40, who died weeks ago in a motorbike crash while fleeing police. MacAulay was described as the 'right hand man' of jailed cocaine boss Mark Richardson. Shots were fired at around 9.15pm on Friday, and no suspects have been traced. Police Scotland is treating the attack as targeted.

MacAulay was among 82 people arrested during Operation Portaledge, the gang war crackdown.

One source called it 'a serious escalation' and said 'it is a miracle nobody was killed'.

Det Insp Dougal Begg called the shooting 'extremely reckless' and appealed for dashcam footage.
