Double-decker bus crashes into building in Hayes after hitting pedestrian near busy station

A First Bus H98 service went out of control at a mini-roundabout on Station Road in Hayes, west London, on Friday evening, hitting a pedestrian before crashing into the wall of a structure close to Hayes and Harlington station at around 7.30pm. Both the driver and the pedestrian sustained minor injuries; the pedestrian received on-scene treatment and was subsequently discharged. First Bus confirmed the vehicle was carrying no passengers at the time and that engineers assessed the building damage as non-structural.

Video circulating on social media shows the bus careering around the roundabout, clipping a car and knocking a man down before coming to rest embedded in the wall.

Several ambulance crews responded to Station Road, UB3, and were joined by London Fire Brigade and police as onlookers gathered at the scene.

First Bus has said the incident will be subject to a full investigation and that it is cooperating with police and TfL to determine what occurred.
