Halifax app is switched off for good as Lloyds phases out the 173-year-old brand and moves customers across

Halifax has closed 58 branches this year as part of a Lloyds Banking Group target to shut 250 branches by 2027, with 20 more due to close in November.
Halifax has closed 58 branches this year as part of a Lloyds Banking Group target to shut 250 branches by 2027, with 20 more due to close in November.

Lloyds Banking Group shut down the Halifax app permanently on November 1, leaving any customers who missed the October 31 migration deadline without digital account access. Account numbers, sort codes and PINs carried over automatically to the new service.

The move is part of Lloyds' wider plan to retire the 173-year-old Halifax brand altogether and consolidate all services under a single app.

Customers who did not complete the switch retain the ability to use their debit and credit cards, but can no longer access their accounts online or via an app.

As the group continues to reduce its high street footprint, 23 Lloyds branches have either closed or are due to close by the end of October, with three Halifax branches also among those affected.
