Halifax customers have hours left to move to the Lloyds app before their bank's app is switched off for good

Halifax has closed 58 branches this year as part of a Lloyds Banking Group target to shut 250 branches by 2027, with 20 more due to close in November.

Halifax's app goes dark permanently on November 1, leaving today as customers' last chance to migrate to Lloyds and keep uninterrupted online access to their finances. Lloyds Banking Group is retiring the 173-year-old Halifax brand entirely, folding it into its own infrastructure as part of a drive to make banking 'simpler and more consistent'.

Account numbers, sort codes, card details and PINs transfer across without change — no payments need to be reset.

Customers who miss today's deadline will be locked out of online banking, though debit and credit cards will continue to work.

Twenty-three Lloyds branches have closed or are set to shut before the end of October, with three Halifax branches among those affected.
