Harriet Harman deepens Labour civil war over Rosebank by urging ministers to approve the North Sea oil field

Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh is leaning toward blocking Rosebank, west of Shetland, even as she gave the green light to the Jackdaw gas field this week. Baroness Harman told a Sky News podcast her 'guess is they will approve it'. She wants the oil proceeds spent 'turbocharging' homegrown renewables. Fahnbulleh insists the decision is hers alone, with a final verdict due by the close of 2026.

Scottish Labour leader Michael Marra backs Rosebank for the jobs and economic activity it would bring.

Left-wing Labour MPs have signed a joint letter demanding Fahnbulleh reject the field.
