Harriet Phillips says she turns to the Princess of Wales for advice in her first interview since marrying Peter Phillips

Harriet Phillips, the 46-year-old former NHS nurse who married Peter Phillips in a Cotswolds ceremony in June, has given her first interview five months on, telling Hello! magazine she finds Princess Catherine 'very open-hearted' and would always feel comfortable seeking her guidance. The pair first met casually on holiday, with children jumping into the water together. Her warm portrayal of Kate directly contradicts Meghan Markle's suggestion that the Princess of Wales was cold and 'jarring' when they first met.

Harriet described her first meeting with mother-in-law Princess Anne as 'really relaxed' — cups of tea on garden benches at Gatcombe.

She praised Anne as 'brilliant, really good fun and straight-talking', with Princess Anne hosting the couple's wedding reception at Gatcombe Park.

Harriet told Hello!: 'I feel very lucky to be a part of the family.'
