Harry and Meghan will spend Christmas in California with Doria Ragland as royal reunion is ruled 'too awkward'

Harry and Meghan will spend Christmas in California with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, bypassing the Royal Family's Sandringham gathering. A friend of the couple says the King has not extended an invitation and the Sussexes have no intention of waiting for one, with the situation described to reporters as 'too awkward and too difficult'. The pair returned to the UK a little over a month ago but have kept a low profile as non-working royals.

Their first public engagement since arriving back in Britain is expected on Thursday, when they are due to visit a Nottingham community recording studio.

Prince William and Harry remain out of contact, with no meeting between the brothers since the Sussexes came back to the UK.
