HBO's Harry Potter series casts James and Lily Potter and hands Charlie Weasley, absent from the films, his first screen role
Harry Gilby, who brings Charlie Weasley to screens for the very first time, is set to appear in 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', premiering on Christmas Day 2026.
Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn have been cast as James and Lily Potter in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series, with the announcements shared on the HBO Max Instagram on Monday alongside the message "The magical family is growing." All three new actors are set to appear in the first season, 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', which premieres on Christmas Day 2026.
Harry Gilby, known for 'The Last Kingdom', will bring Charlie Weasley to screens for the very first time — the character was entirely absent from all eight original films.
Talbot previously appeared in three episodes of Bafta-winning drama 'Broadchurch', while Chinn's credits include Sky's 'Possession' and horror 'The Conjuring: Last Rites'.
The series stars John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Snape and Nick Frost as Hagrid, with Kit Harington joining as Gilderoy Lockhart in the already-announced second season.
