Sir Kevin Sinfield, 46, has been knighted by Prince William at Windsor Castle after raising more than £11 million for the motor neurone disease community in honour of his late Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow, who died in 2024. He said he was 'massively humbled' and accepted the honour on behalf of MND families everywhere. Sir Kevin has pledged to continue fundraising for the rest of his life, saying: 'I made a commitment for life. I'm in this for life.'
Sir Kevin completed seven ultramarathons in seven days last week as his seventh and final '7 in 7' challenge inspired by Burrow.
Prince William and Princess Catherine surprised Sir Kevin mid-challenge last week, with Catherine telling him: 'What you're doing is so inspiring.'
Rob Burrow's wife made a 'heartbreaking admission' as her late husband's former teammate received the honour he helped inspire.
