'He got his buddies to point and laugh at me for three minutes': James McAvoy reveals bullying on first day at 'Band of Brothers'
James McAvoy, who says he was mocked and intimidated by a co-star during his one-episode appearance in the 2001 war drama because veterans had waited months for a single line while he arrived with a full arc.
James McAvoy, 47, has revealed he was bullied on his very first day as a professional actor by an unnamed co-star on the set of the HBO miniseries 'Band of Brothers' in 2001. The Scottish actor was 22 and fresh out of acting school when the incident occurred, and described it as rating just two out of ten despite giving the wider experience a nine.
McAvoy says jealousy sparked the bullying — he had a full arc and 'tonnes of lines' while castmates of nine months had just one.
The bully recruited friends to stand, point and laugh at McAvoy for three minutes straight, but Dexter Fletcher and Robin Laing stepped in to rescue him.
McAvoy identified his tormentor from a cast photo showing Donnie Wahlberg, Kirk Acevedo, Scott Grimes, Neal McDonough and others — but refused to name him, ruling out only David Schwimmer.
