Supermodel Heidi Klum, 53, arrived at her New York bash at Cathédrale restaurant in a truck covered in red "danger" signs, escorted by actors in blood-stained hazmat suits, with only her eyes and mouth visible through the elaborate prosthetics. Special effects designer Mike Marino used 3D scans of Klum's actual hand to replicate every vein, palm line and piece of jewellery, with her legs forming two of the fingers. The costume took five to six hours to put on and months to build.
Klum incorporated a tattoo of husband Tom Kaulitz's name on the ring finger because he was away on tour and couldn't attend.
Her daughter Leni, 22, who came dressed as Miss Piggy, told reporters her mother's costumes are 'always a 10.'
'Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it,' Klum said of the heavy prosthetic — in what may be the year's most deserved pun.
