Bill Davis, 73, has handed over his full £1m lottery jackpot to Longlevens AFC in Gloucester after playing the same six numbers on the club's behalf for 32 years. The president of the grassroots football club matched all five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the September 26 Lotto draw. Davis had been faithfully entering numbers originally chosen by a club member three decades ago, and did not keep a penny for himself.
Longlevens AFC celebrated the win at their Saw Mills End ground in Gloucester, with the £1m set to transform the club's finances.
The windfall came in the same Lotto draw that produced an unclaimed £5.8m jackpot — a ticket bought in Lewisham still has no owner.
The National Lottery says 140 Lotto millionaires have been created so far this year, with a special £12m Must Be Won draw taking place this Saturday.
