'Hero' mum who kept her son above water as she drowned saved her boys in the Bahamas, husband reveals

Leanne Gregory, from Stapleford in Nottinghamshire, held one of her boys until help reached him off Bimini on Tuesday but had no strength left to save herself. Nathan Gregory said a 'freak wave swept the boat away from her'. He struggled from the sea to flag down a boat, then fought to revive his wife. Both sons were pulled out alive.

'We were childhood sweethearts, my one and only,' wrote Nathan, together with Leanne for 22 years.

Witness Katie Rescinit: 'I was there for all of it. She's a hero.'

Water taxi captain Linty Stuart said a seven-foot wave rocked his boat during the rescue.
