Halifax customers who had not yet migrated to the Lloyds app lost digital access to their accounts at midnight, marking the completion of Lloyds Banking Group's removal of the 173-year-old Halifax brand from its digital services. The Halifax app was retired in stages from October 5, with customers told they could move across in a few steps, keeping their existing account numbers, sort codes, cards and PINs unchanged.

Standing orders, Direct Debits and scheduled payments carry over automatically — no need to set them up again.

The branch network is shrinking too, with 23 Lloyds and Halifax locations already closed or shutting by end of October.

Debit and credit cards keep working even for customers who never made the switch.
