Hillingdon Council shames fly-tippers by posting their CCTV photos on Facebook and asking locals to identify them

Hillingdon Council has begun naming and shaming fly-tippers by publishing CCTV footage of suspected offenders on Facebook, asking residents to help identify people caught illegally discarding mattresses, furniture, rubble and commercial waste. Enforcement teams have issued more than 300 fixed penalty notices to date, generating around £134,000. Offenders can receive on-the-spot fines of up to £1,000, with the most serious cases carrying the prospect of unlimited fines or up to five years in prison.
After its driver was caught dumping waste on a residential road in Ickenham, a Ford Iveco flatbed truck was seized and subsequently crushed — the first vehicle to be destroyed under the crackdown.
A church car park in Hayes has become a persistent fly-tipping hotspot, with councillor Adam Bennett cautioning offenders that they will face 'every enforcement power available'.
