'Hitting pay dirt': Trump urges Vivek Ramaswamy to keep Ohio attack ad starring Amy Acton's estranged mother despite GOP backlash
President Donald Trump dragged his own mother into the row, claiming that if Mary MacLeod Trump attacked him, it would be 'the Ad of the Decade'. He hit out at Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, who said the ad is 'just wrong' and should come down. In the ad, Donna Arthur calls her daughter 'a liar'. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose says his office is investigating complaints about it.
Acton has said her stepfather raped her as a child, and her mother stayed married to him.
Acton branded the ad 'despicable', and donations to her campaign have since surged.
Vice President JD Vance also defended the ad, defying Ohio's Republican establishment.
