Ryo Uchimiya, a 51-year-old sushi chef who had worked at Nobu Malibu for 25 years, was killed on Saturday morning when a 16-year-old boy drove a Range Rover into his parked sedan on Pacific Coast Highway while he napped before his shift. DMV records show the 2026 Land Rover was leased by British composer Harry Gregson-Williams, 64, whose scores include 'Shrek', 'Gladiator II' and 'The Chronicles of Narnia'. The connection between the teenage driver and Gregson-Williams remains unexplained. The teenager stayed at the scene and no charges have yet been filed.
Gregson-Williams had attended the Los Angeles premiere of Ben Affleck's 'Animals' just TWO DAYS before the fatal crash.
A witness said the teenage driver 'looked very young and very confused' and his parents never arrived to find him at the scene.
Uchimiya, a married father of two, was described by a colleague as 'a real nice guy, very talented chef'; origami cranes and flowers now mark the crash site.
