Countries from Canada to Argentina cash in on the Iran war as buyers scramble to replace lost Hormuz oil

Investment and production are surging across the Americas as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz drives buyers to new suppliers, shifting the balance of global oil power. The conflict is nearing the eight-month mark, and US drivers paid an average of about $4.30 a gallon on Monday, up from $3.04 a year ago. Oil majors now face a test over how to spend their windfall cash.

A CBS News/YouGov poll found that 91 percent of Texas voters believe the war is responsible for higher fuel prices.

Just 7 percent of Texans said the conflict is having 'no impact' on prices.

Texas gas has climbed to $3.78 a gallon from about $2.60 last year.
