Horrifying video appears to show shoulder restraint lifting as 18-year-old falls to her death from carnival ride in Mexico

Footage has emerged appearing to show a shoulder restraint lifting on 'El Péndulo' moments before 18-year-old Gabriela Rodríguez Tezoco fell from the ride at the Cabo San Lucas Traditional Festival on Tuesday, 20 October, after which she was rushed to hospital by Mexican Red Cross crews and later died of her injuries. The Baja California Sur State Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation. The ride has been shut down and secured for technical examination.

Los Cabos mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez addressed her death, saying: 'It could have been any one of us.'

Authorities have ordered safety checks across every other attraction at the fair, not just the Pendulum.
