Hundreds of British and French paratroopers drop into Germany in the biggest airborne drill in decades as Russia fears mount

Around 600 soldiers from 3 Para jumped 800ft from four RAF A400M Atlas aircraft onto the Sennelager Training Centre, alongside roughly 100 French marine paratroopers. After landing, they dug defensive positions against a drone-equipped enemy force, holding a blocking line to prevent simulated invaders from breaking through Nato territory. Exercise Rhino Titan brought seven weeks of war games to a close, with total participation across the exercise reaching approximately 2,500 personnel.

Defence Secretary Wes Streeting says British airborne power can now reach 'anywhere it's needed'.

Senior military figures warn that Russia could launch an attack on Europe within the coming years, with some estimates pointing to a window before 2030.

Putin's forces have suffered 1.5 million casualties in Ukraine, including 500,000 killed.
