Hundreds of families are forced out of two Canning Town tower blocks after a 'disastrous' crack is found in the concrete

Residents of the Sovereign and Centurion towers on Hoy Street were emailed about the faulty structure on Thursday afternoon, yet the full evacuation was not finished until 3am on Friday. Families stood freezing in dressing gowns on the street. Evacuees were offered beds in a nearby council building but say no other support has come. Nobody knows when they can go home.

Newham Council and the managing company Prime held a 'crisis meeting' at the site on Friday.
