Hundreds of passengers are stuck in 'two-hour security queues' at Stansted Airport after a power surge knocks out systems

Security and baggage systems at Stansted are still not running at full capacity, the airport admits, even though most other systems are back online. Arrivals were left crammed on escalators waiting for passport control. Greater Anglia has pulled dozens of Stansted Express services after fallen trees obstructed the line to London. The chaos follows Storm Boelo battering Britain's infrastructure.

On Friday a fault on Stansted's internal transit train left travellers without water for hours.

That ageing transit train, linking the terminal to a satellite pier, is due for scrapping next year.

Back-to-back Storms Austen and Boelo have cut power to thousands of homes.
