Scott Green, a passenger on the Doncaster-to-London LNER service, told Cambridge Crown Court his cockapoo Poppy leapt up barking when knifeman Anthony Williams attacked him, apparently startling Williams into fleeing. Green's hands were "literally pouring with blood" before he realised where he had been stabbed.

First victim Jonathan Gjoshe described the initial stab as 'like an electric shock', later asking hospital staff 'am I going to die today?'

Another victim, Sachin Balakrishnan, recalled Williams chasing him through carriages: 'There was nowhere to go. Nowhere was safe.'
