Nathan Gregory, who described wife Leanne Gregory as "a hero in life and in death," said he screamed for help as she fought through waves to keep their youngest son above water.

Nathan Gregory says he 'screamed with all my heart' for a passing boat as Leanne Gregory, 36, fought through the waves toward their youngest son off Bimini. The family from Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, had been on holiday for just 48 hours. Their sons, Scott and Leo, both survived. The couple had been together since the age of 14, and the entire ordeal lasted under 10 minutes.

Leanne kept her son above water until rescuers reached them, by which point she had nothing left.

A 'freak wave' pushed the rescue boat away from her as she went under.

Nathan described his childhood sweetheart as 'a hero in life and in death'.
