'I'm honestly too scared': Richard Hammond fears early-onset dementia from his brain injury but won't get a scan

Richard Hammond, 56, admits he does 'lose stuff a lot' and 'forget stuff', though he says that may just be his age. He opened up on the High Performance podcast with Jake Humphrey and Damian Hughes. The former Grand Tour star was left in a coma in 2006 after crashing a 320mph jet-powered Vampire dragster at Elvington Airfield near York. 'The brain injury is with me forever, probably,' he said.
In 2017 he narrowly got out of a £2m Rimac supercar in Switzerland before the vehicle went up in flames.
On his daughters he said: 'I don't want to let them down... I'd have to tell them.'
He compared a scan to his 'annual MOT', where he gets 'mauled by a doctor'.
