Beverley Callard, 69, has been unable to obtain newly prescribed stomach medication after a pharmacist flagged a dangerous interaction with her existing cancer treatment. The Coronation Street actress, best known as Liz McDonald, received her breast cancer diagnosis in February and described the "nightmare" development to her 319,000 Instagram followers.
Callard's cancer treatment has left part of her stomach eroded away, causing chronic inflammation, and she is now waiting for urgent oncology sign-off before she can proceed.
The pharmacist has been praised for attempting to reach her doctors on her behalf, but Callard says she is "at a loss" while the wait continues.
Callard also told fans she was "gutted" after falling in love with rescue dog Elvis in Dublin, only to be told he had bitten another dog and a handler.
