Anthony Williams, whose attack on train worker Samir Zitouni — who fought back with a frying pan — left the employee with two punctured lungs and needing four blood transfusions, prosecutors told Cambridge Crown Court.

Stephen Crean, a Nottingham Forest fan, was stabbed multiple times in the head, back, fingers and hip by Anthony Williams, 33, on the LNER service from Doncaster to London on 1 November last year. Locked in a toilet, he whispered to his 999 handler 'I've locked the door. I need help. I'm scared.' Williams denies 14 counts of attempted murder across the train and two other locations.

Before reaching Crean, Williams told him 'Do you want to die?' — words Crean told police he 'will never forget.'

Train worker Samir Zitouni, who fought Williams off with a frying pan and a toaster, had both lungs punctured and needed four blood transfusions and a ventilator.

Passenger Scott Green's dog Poppy began barking at Williams mid-attack, causing him to flee down the aisle before he could inflict further stab wounds.
