Ho-Yin Mo, a field representative for California Assemblywoman Catherine Stefani, was arrested by ICE at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after overstaying his visa by more than six years. Stefani, who represents parts of San Francisco, has publicly opposed Trump's deportation drive. Mo is a former anchor at KTSF Channel 26, a Chinese-language San Francisco TV station, who entered the US legally in January 2020 but failed to leave by May 2026.

Homeland Security confirmed Mo is 'an illegal alien from Hong Kong' whose work authorisation did not confer legal status.

Stefani had eagerly recruited Mo specifically for his TV profile, saying his background 'resonates with a lot of individuals.'

Mo also worked on London Breed's failed 2024 San Francisco mayoral re-election campaign as an Asian American outreach organiser.
