Idaho prosecutors accuse Bryan Kohberger of 'fishing expedition' as family backs his bid to overturn guilty plea

Idaho prosecutors have hit back at Bryan Kohberger's legal team, accusing them of using post-conviction proceedings as a "fishing expedition" to hunt for better arguments to withdraw his guilty plea. Deputy Latah County Prosecuting Attorney Keith Scholl warned that discovery in post-conviction cases is not designed to let defendants go searching for ammunition. The deadline for Kohberger's amended petition is set for 13 November — four years to the day since the murders.
Kohberger, 31, claims his lawyers pressured him into falsely confessing and that his plea was built on 'false promises and blatant disinformation.'
His family publicly backed the bid, saying they need 'the complete and unvarnished truth' told through a proper trial, not an 'improper plea.'
Kohberger is also seeking to disqualify Judge Steven Hippler, alleging bias at sentencing, and wants the case returned to Latah County, the jurisdiction where the murders occurred.
