India's 'Cockroach' party leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das are jailed for five days after scaling New Delhi protest barricades

Ranka and Das were ordered into five days' judicial custody on Wednesday after they scaled metal barricades at Jantar Mantar — a historic protest site Delhi Police removed from the official list of designated protest venues just one day before their arrest. A video posted by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke showed the pair clambering over barriers, running into an empty space and waving India's national flag before police chased and detained them. Their lawyer Abhisht Hela says police accused them of breaching bond conditions from an earlier detention at the weekend.

The protests are demanding the resignation of Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over voter roll changes critics say are rigged to benefit Modi's BJP.

The Election Commission has denied any wrongdoing, saying wrongly removed voters can simply re-register.

CJP's Dipke hit back at Modi directly: 'Show some guts, @narendramodi,' he posted, vowing the movement will not be silenced.
