Iran-backed Houthi rebels have struck Saudi Arabia's main airport 20 times this month, killing 17 and injuring 333

Saudi Arabia is struggling to stop the attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh despite its far superior US-supplied weapons. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the 10 October strike alone involved 10 drones, missiles and other projectiles. A recent report found the Houthis tried to source Chinese parts for precision-guided missiles with a range of roughly 1,200 miles. A senior Saudi diplomat accused Iran of encouraging the escalation.

Former US envoy Tim Lenderking warned the Houthis are now a 'clear and very present danger'.

The Houthis denied firing a cruise missile that was intercepted over the holy city of Medina.

The airport strikes have cast doubt over Saudi Arabia's major sports and business events.
