Iran claims its navy hit seven oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and threatens to strike US bases
Tehran says the seven tankers were left on fire or damaged overnight, struck either by Iranian forces or by naval mines. The Revolutionary Guard Corps navy claimed four of the ships had been transferring oil. Iranian state television gave no casualty figures. Britain's maritime monitor, UK Maritime Trade Operations, has not reported the attacks, though some shippers are reportedly reluctant to report incidents.
The Revolutionary Guard says US bases are targets if America keeps guiding ships through.
