Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy reports that a tanker with a 2-million-barrel crude cargo hit a mine in the strait, triggering fires aboard two additional vessels. At least one tanker was reportedly struck by limpet mines. The IRGC also claims a US drone was shot down during the same operation.

A US admiral had declared Iran's navy sunk, Hormuz mines cleared and tankers flowing again — just hours before Iran's claims emerged.

Oil is heading for a fourth consecutive monthly price gain as the attack underscores global supply vulnerability.

The Hormuz incidents coincided with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth firing a top US general.
