Iranian-backed Houthis kill 58 at a Yemeni government training camp in one of the war's deadliest strikes, governor says

Three ballistic missiles slammed into the Al Alam camp in Shabwa Province, a training centre for security and police recruits, according to army spokesman Col Majed al-Nuzaili. An earlier count put 53 more people wounded. The Houthi-run Saba agency claimed the target was Saudi 'troop buildups' and never mentioned recruits. Deputy governor Fahd Al-Khulaifi warned the toll 'is expected to rise'.

Casualties are being rushed to government-held Aden and al-Mukalla for treatment.

The Saudi-led coalition backing Yemen's government has stayed silent on the strike.

Several thousand Yemenis have already fled by boat across the Red Sea to Djibouti.
