Iranian fishermen abandon their catch to haul 'iPhones and perfume' from the Strait of Hormuz after a cargo ship sinks

The Singapore-flagged GFS Pride went down on Wednesday with more than 2,500 containers aboard, all shipped from Dubai. Footage shows dozens of skiffs weaving between half-submerged boxes, with one boat trying to tow a whole container. 'We heard a container ship sank, so we're going to collect iPhones and perfume,' one man says. All 21 crew were evacuated unhurt.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards claim the ship strayed onto an 'unauthorised and dangerous' route and hit a mine.

US Central Command says an Iranian projectile hit the ship, which sank while being towed ashore.

Ship attacks around Hormuz this month have already beaten March's total, at the war's height.
