Iranian fishermen swarm the Strait of Hormuz to scoop up iPhones and French perfume after a cargo ship sinks

The Singapore-flagged GFS Pride went down on 14 October carrying more than 2,500 containers, and its 21 crew all escaped unhurt. Footage shows hundreds of locals in skiffs hauling boxes from the water, with one boat dragging a whole container. Iran's Revolutionary Guards claim the vessel struck a mine on an 'unauthorised and dangerous' route. Singapore's maritime authority says it was hit by unknown projectiles.

One man in a viral clip said: 'We're going to collect iPhones and perfume.'

Sister ship GFS Giselle was struck a day later but limped to safe anchorage.

The GFS Pride was the third ship lost since the war began in February.
