Ireland deports 24 Romanian men are convicted of crimes including sexual assault and bans them from returning for up to 10 years
The charter flight cost €182,270 and left Dublin Airport at 4.25pm on Sunday, landing in Bucharest at 8pm Irish time. Eighteen of the men, aged 24 to 57, were taken straight out of Irish Prison Service custody. The other six were arrested at locations across Ireland and held before removal. Their convictions include burglary, domestic violence, drug offences and organised crime.
Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan: 'there must be consequences' for criminal behaviour.
The flight takes Ireland's 2026 charter removals to 245, including 91 EU citizens.
Gardaí, medics, interpreters and a human rights observer flew with the men.
