Irish police expect more arrests as net closes on gang that killed Waterford family over €20,000 drug debt

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly says the murder investigation into the petrol-bomb attack that killed Philip and Kim English and their two boys — Callum, 12, and Jayden, 9 — has made "significant progress". Philip's son John James English told RTÉ that the family were targeted by a local drugs gang seeking to recover a €20,000 debt run up by someone else. Two suspects arrested Thursday remain in custody: a man in his 20s, believed to be a hired hand who left prison after a burglary conviction only recently, and a woman in her 30s suspected of driving her own car to the scene.
Detectives have searched seven properties and seized vehicles and phones; CCTV footage of the getaway vehicle has also been obtained.
The suspect is believed to have been contracted by a gang led by three brothers, receiving just a few hundred euro to carry out the attack.
Two surviving children, Nadia, 14, and Elliot, 6, remain in a critical condition at Children's Health Ireland in Crumlin.
