Irishman who threatened to 'put a bullet' in the head of a Holocaust survivor's daughter in France is spared jail

The defendant, 60, originally from Dublin but now living in France, was convicted by an Avignon court of making antisemitic death threats and attempting to justify crimes against humanity — and walked free with a six-month suspended sentence. The Australian woman he targeted was the daughter of a Holocaust survivor whose relatives were murdered at Auschwitz.
The defendant was filmed in a Le Pontet hypermarket on 11 August telling the woman he would "put a bullet" in her head and saying "I'm sorry Hitler didn't finish the job."
Prosecutors had sought a three-year ban from French territory, but judges declined to impose it, ordering only €500 compensation to each victim.
A search of the defendant's home uncovered electronic devices containing racist material, including a note expressing a desire to "get rid of trash from the third world."
