Sunday's strike on Deir al-Balah, which killed three-year-old Tayyem Hamdan, targeted Hassam Osama Hussein Nasir, a Hamas operative the IDF said had been directing attacks against troops and civilians. The IDF defended its strikes during the ongoing ceasefire by stating that each target "posed an immediate threat" and was actively working to restore Hamas capabilities in "systematic violation" of the ceasefire agreement. Saturday strikes in Jabalia killed Nukhba Force commander Abd al-Fatah Abu al-Eish — who crossed into Israel on October 7 — along with operative Raed Adel Mohammed Alyan.

A second strike on Saturday, in Khan Younis, killed Nukhba Force members Yasser Abu al-Khair and Mohammed al-Din, both of whom had been linked to planning attacks.

The IDF condemned Hamas's 'cynical use of humanitarian infrastructure,' after one commander was found sheltering inside a hospital compound in Deir al-Balah.

On August 27, Israel put medical authorities across Gaza on notice that it would strike any terrorist activity conducted from within medical facilities if the practice continued.
