Israel pushes to restart strikes on Iran after Trump opposed a planned multi-day bombing campaign before the US midterms

Israeli forces had prepared a multi-day bombing campaign for the weekend of October 10, with targets including power plants, nuclear facilities and regime sites. President Donald Trump blocked any strike ahead of the US midterm elections on November 3. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is now pressing for a new offensive to launch within weeks. Israeli officials have reportedly drawn up a revised target list that now includes civilian infrastructure.

White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said the US will not attack Iran before the midterms.

It is reportedly 'not unreasonable' to expect strikes to restart within weeks.
