More than 2,200 people in Hebron, including nearly 200 children, have been forced from their homes, the municipality says. Every entrance to the city remains sealed. The operation follows Friday's checkpoint attack, in which two Palestinian gunmen killed two Israeli soldiers.
Benjamin Netanyahu vowed at the attack site that Israel would 'act to destroy this place'.
Soldiers sprayed black crosses on Palestinian houses before bulldozers flattened whole blocks.
