Israeli-founded cybersecurity firm Varonis agrees $6.3bn all-cash sale to US rival Proofpoint in a historic deal

Yaki Faitelson and Ohad Korkus co-founded Varonis in 2005, building the company around a core problem: organisations routinely failing to monitor who has access to their own data.

Faitelson said the combined company would be able to secure AI systems 'faster than ever', cautioning that autonomous AI agents can reach sensitive data at unprecedented scale.

Varonis counts Nasdaq, Ralph Lauren and US mortgage giant Fannie Mae among its customers and maintains a major research and development hub in Herzliya, Israel.
