Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine says masked settlers kicked her 'probably 50 times' while she wore a vest marked 'PRESS' at an olive harvest in Abu Falah on Friday. She suffered broken vertebrae and a broken rib, and needed surgery on her torn finger. A day later, diplomats from Belgium, France, Poland and the Catholic Church were attacked in Taybeh. Some of those held are accused over both assaults.
US ambassador Mike Huckabee hailed the arrests as 'a very positive development'.
Rights groups say investigations into settler violence against Palestinians rarely result in convictions.
