Israeli strikes kill eight in Gaza, including a four-year-old boy and five police officers, a year into the US-brokered ceasefire
Destruction in Gaza after Israeli strikes that Hamas described as a "horrific massacre," with more than 1,580 Palestinians killed since a ceasefire took effect in October 2026.
A drone strike on the Rimal neighbourhood of Gaza City killed three people including a four-year-old boy near Cairo School, while a separate attack in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, killed five police officers described by Gaza's interior ministry as being targeted while on routine duty.
Gaza's interior ministry called the Khan Younis attack a 'horrific massacre', naming the five officers killed, who were aged between 23 and 53.
More than 1,580 Palestinians have been killed since the US-brokered ceasefire took effect in October 2025, according to Gaza's health ministry.
Trump's peace plan for Gaza has stalled, with no agreement reached on Hamas disarmament or Israeli troop withdrawal from the two-thirds of the territory Israel currently controls.
