'It's about principle': Carla Lockhart denies quitting her DUP officer role to 'satisfy hardliners' over the Drumcree row

DUP MP Sammy Wilson branded Carla Lockhart's resignation 'a token gesture' because the party refused to bring Stormont down. The Upper Bann MP hit back on Facebook, saying her only ambition is serving her constituents. She wants Emma Little-Pengelly pulled as deputy First Minister, which would automatically oust Sinn Féin's Michelle O'Neill. Leader Gavin Robinson has so far refused.

Lockhart's fury stems from O'Neill attending a Garvaghy Road protest.

Robinson insists Lockhart 'remains a key part of our team' despite the split.

Lockhart says she has 'never seen unionism so united' or felt such anger.
