ITV's This Morning, Lorraine and Loose Women are pulled off air after an overnight 'power cut' hits its Covent Garden studio
Lorraine Kelly, 66, who had been looking forward to interviewing Sharleen Spiteri about Texas's new single and 30th anniversary tour before Wednesday's disruption.
All three of ITV's flagship daytime shows — Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women — were wiped from Wednesday's schedule after an overnight power cut knocked out electricity and water at the broadcaster's Covent Garden studio. ITV confirmed it was unable to broadcast any of the three live and said it would return to normal scheduling as soon as possible. Good Morning Britain was extended by half an hour to fill the gap, with Tipping Point highlights replacing Loose Women at 12.30pm.
Cat Deeley was mid-hair-dye when the blackout struck, joking 'I've just been waterboarded' after her stylist tipped a 5-gallon bottle over her head to rinse out the colour.
Lorraine Kelly, 66, said from her car: 'It's a bit of a shame — I was really looking forward to talking to Sharleen Spiteri from Texas.'
This Morning could reportedly remain off air for the entire week, raising questions about why ITV's biggest daytime shows lacked backup power systems.
