The tests are due to begin in London as early as Friday and will cover stunts, camera presence and dialogue. Jack O'Connell will not be testing either. Amazon MGM Studios, which has hired Denis Villeneuve to direct, could announce its new 007 before the end of the year.

Richard Madden's odds were slashed from 40/1 to 14/1, though Lowden stays favourite at 4/6.
