Scottish actor Jack Lowden, star of 'Slow Horses', has emerged as the bookmakers' odds-on favourite at 8/11 after final screen tests took place at Bray Studios over the weekend. Callum Turner is his closest rival at 2/1, with Josh O'Connor also among the confirmed shortlist of four. A mystery fourth candidate has set fan forums alight with speculation, with many pointing to Joe Alwyn as the unnamed star.

Ladbrokes says the Bond race is 'reaching crunch time', with Lowden pulling clear of the field.

Harris Dickinson and Nicholas Hoult have been ruled out as the fourth contender.

Lesser-known Jack Barton, 31, best known for Netflix's 'Heartstopper', is reportedly Amazon MGM's preferred choice for the secret fourth slot.
